25 may 2019 - Liège-Chênée, Rue du Gravier. Wóz podczas obsługi linii 33 w kierunku śródmieścia przemierza urokliwie biegnącą uliczkę położoną tuż nad korytem rzeki Vesdre. W przypadku tego auta mamy jakąś dziwną akcję z tablicami rejestracyjnymi. Na zdjęciu widnieją blachy "1-VLX-720", natomiast baza przewiduje dla niego inne numery - pytanie czy został szybko przerejestrowany? A może gdzieś w innej belgijskiej prowincji jeździ drugi TEC-owski 5592? ;-)

W tym kwartale miasta znajduje się blisko siebie przynajmniej kilka ważnych przystanków obsługiwanych przez linie komunikacyjne z różnych kierunków - zarówno miejskich, jak i bardziej regionalnych. Myślę tu o "République Française", "Opera", "Place Saint-Lambert" i wciśnięty między kamienice "Gare Léopold". Co ciekawe w ciągu tygodnia roboczego nadal można ustrzelić w tej okolicy, w regularnym ruchu, MB O405 w wersji solo i przegubowej.

25 may 2019 - Liège, Boulevard d`Avroy. Jedno szybkie, poglądowe zbliżenie na oznakowanie tylnej ściany wozu. Mamy tu ichniejsze "Jestem hybrydowy" i nawet dwukrotnie powtórzoną informację, że autobus ma pierwszeństwo przy ruszaniu z przystanku. Przy okazji trzeba powiedzieć, że wciąż pozostaje zagadką czym przewoźnik kieruje się przy nadawaniu numerów bocznych - ten wozik z pewnością został wprowadzony do ruchu dopiero przed kilkoma dniami, a numer ma "wyjęty ze środka". ;-)

25 may 2019 - Liège, Boulevard d`Avroy. Przez widoczne na zdjęciu miejsce miała przebiegać planowana od kilku lat linia tramwajowa - jak widać, póki co - nie nastąpiło nawet uroczyste wbicie pierwszej (żadnej) łopaty.

28 july 2013 - Liège, Place Saint-Lambert. Wkrótce okolica trochę się zmieni, gdyż Liège dołączy do grona miast posiadających tramwaj. Trasa o długości 12,5 km będzie przebiegała głównie wzdłuż rzeki i połączy m.in. główny dworzec kolejowy ze ścisłym centrum miasta. Wybrano już wygląd wagonów, które dostarczy Alstom, Bombardier lub CAF. Linia zostanie oddana do użytku w 2017 lub 2018 roku.

5 june 2009 - Liege (BE) – museum Natalis. Inside RELSE tram #321 – what a very comfortable way to travel! Note the conductor’s desk (there is another one at the other end of this double-ended tram). Passengers got on at the rear of the tram, paid the conductor and got off at the front.

5 june 2009 - Liege (BE) – museum Natalis. The Liege-Seraing tramway (or RELSE) was one of the three separate systems in Liege and ran distinctive green trams on long suburban lines from the city centre until final closure in 1968. This four-wheeler dates from 1926 – love the eyebrows!

5 june 2009 - Liege (BE) – museum Natalis. Another Aachen tram in the museum collection – this one dates from 1926. Aachen also ran trolleybuses for a time, but these are gone, too. I remember seeing trams and trolleybuses on a journey through Aachen in the 1960s, but I was too stupid to take any pictures.

Surviving trams from the system in Aachen/Aix-la-Chapelle (DE), which closed down in 1974, are kept here as there is no suitable place in their home city, just over the Belgian border. Long tram lines once ran between several towns and villages in the district, very similar to the network in Silesia, although metre gauge. This typical ‘grossraumwagen’ dates from 1956. Similar trams still run in Gmunden (AT), which I think is now the only place you will find them.

This German-built tram was supplied to the Tramways Est-Oest de Liege in 1908 and ran until 1954, when it became a works car with the T.U.L.E. company.

What is less well known is that it also ran buses, usually as replacements when tram lines were closed down. This one was built in 1952 and ran in the Namur area. Like most SNCV vehicles, it was specially built. Not the prettiest bus in the world, I think……..

5 june 2009 - Liege (BE) – museum Natalis. One for the TWB detectives, I think. This Scania DAB ultra-low-floor bus stands in a corner of the Liege transport museum. It’s in TEC colours, but looks as if it is brand new and has never been registered or operated. It originated from the Danish Silkeborg plant, which (I thought) stopped making buses in 2003 when the company went bankrupt. An impressive bus, though – the floor is only 17cm from the ground, and lowers another 6cm at stops. So what’s the story, I wonder? If it was built several years ago, why has TEC never used it, and why is it in the museum?

5 june 2009 - Liege (BE) – museum Natalis. I’m not sure, but I think this Mercedes is an 0302 model. It dates from 1963 and was in Liege city service until 1976, when it was moved to the transport museum. Are there any Mercedes experts out there who can identify it?
